The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth Center for Portuguese Studies and Culture / Tagus Press is a multidisciplinary international studies and outreach unit dedicated to the study of the language, literatures and cultures of the Portuguese-speaking world. Working in close partnership with the Department of Portuguese and the Ferreira-Mendes Portuguese-American Archives, it is the oldest of these units devoted to Portuguese at UMass Dartmouth.

14th Annual Summer Program in Portuguese

The UMD Center for Portuguese Studies and Culture announces a $20,000 grant from the Luso-American Foundation of Lisbon for the 14th Annual Summer Program (July 9 - August 8, 2007). The grant will underwrite a considerable number of scholarships, the Summer Program in Portuguese Concert Series and the Summer Program in Portuguese Lecture Series. The Program offers intensive courses in Portuguese language at the elementary, intermediate and advanced levels, in addition to upper level courses in he culture of Brazil (POR 314), the literature and cinema of  Brazil, Portugal, and Lusophone Africa (POR 481/581), and contemporary politics of Portugal (PSC 395/PSC 595).
