The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth Center for Portuguese Studies and Culture / Tagus Press is a multidisciplinary international studies and outreach unit dedicated to the study of the language, literatures and cultures of the Portuguese-speaking world. Working in close partnership with the Department of Portuguese and the Ferreira-Mendes Portuguese-American Archives, it is the oldest of these units devoted to Portuguese at UMass Dartmouth.

Series

The 20th Annual Summer Program in Portuguese, organized by the Center for Portuguese Studies and Culture and sponsored by the Luso-American Foundation, presents the 2013 Portuguese and Lusophone Film Series, sponsored by the Instituto Camões and the Consulate of Portugal in New Bedford.

Films to be screened this summer include:

The documentary, A Portuguese Film, will be presented by director Vanessa S. Dias, followed by a talk on contemporary Portuguese film and discussion of the recent book Novas e Velhas Tendências do Cinema Português Contemporâneo. The screening will take place on Friday, July 12 at 6:00 pm.

All films will be screened at the College of Visual and Performing Arts, Room 153.
