The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth Center for Portuguese Studies and Culture / Tagus Press is a multidisciplinary international studies and outreach unit dedicated to the study of the language, literatures and cultures of the Portuguese-speaking world. Working in close partnership with the Department of Portuguese and the Ferreira-Mendes Portuguese-American Archives, it is the oldest of these units devoted to Portuguese at UMass Dartmouth.

Another City Upon a HillBook Event: Another City Upon a Hill: A New England Memoir

On Thursday February 20, 2014, the Ferreira-Mendes Portuguese American Archives and the Center for Portuguese Studies and Culture at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth will host historian Joseph Conforti who will read fr om and sign his latest book titled Another City Upon a Hill:  A New England Memoir, which was published by Tagus Press, the publishing arm of the Center for Portuguese Studies & Culture at UMD.

The Only Happy Ending for a Love Story is an AccidentJ.P. Cuenca Book Tour

Tagus Press at UMass Dartmouth, in partnership with the University Press of New England (UPNE), announces the publication of The Only Happy Ending for a Love Story is an Accident by Brazilian author J.P. Cuenca. The novel, translated from the Portuguese by Elizabeth Lowe, was featured at the 2013 Frankfurt Book Fair, where Brazil was the country of honor.

The Eternal SonPublication of The Eternal Son by Cristovão Tezza

Tagus Press at UMass Dartmouth, in partnership with the University Press of New England (UPNE), announces the publication of The Eternal Son by the Brazilian writer Cristovão Tezza. This autobiographical novel, translated from the Portuguese by Alison Entrekin, was shortlisted for the 2012 International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award and was chosen by the Financial Times as one of the Best Books of 2013.
