The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth Center for Portuguese Studies and Culture / Tagus Press is a multidisciplinary international studies and outreach unit dedicated to the study of the language, literatures and cultures of the Portuguese-speaking world. Working in close partnership with the Department of Portuguese and the Ferreira-Mendes Portuguese-American Archives, it is the oldest of these units devoted to Portuguese at UMass Dartmouth.

11th Annual Conference on Portuguese Language Education

On September 19, 2014, the Department of Portuguese at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth will host the 11th Annual Conference on Portuguese Language Education.

The conference will take place at the Star Store, in New Bedford (715 Purchase Street). Registration is required.

The keynote speaker will be Professor José Pascoal, from the University of Lisbon, who will lead a workshop in the morning followed by practical applications in the first part of the afternoon program.

Other speakers include teachers from public schools who will share best practices on teaching Portuguese language.

The conference is sponsored by CEPE-EUA (Coordenação do Ensino de Português nos Estados Unidos), Camões Instituto da Cooperação e da Língua, Lidel Edições Técnicas, the Department of Portuguese, and the Center for Portuguese Studies and Culture.
