The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth Center for Portuguese Studies and Culture / Tagus Press is a multidisciplinary international studies and outreach unit dedicated to the study of the language, literatures and cultures of the Portuguese-speaking world. Working in close partnership with the Department of Portuguese and the Ferreira-Mendes Portuguese-American Archives, it is the oldest of these units devoted to Portuguese at UMass Dartmouth.

You are cordially invited to attend the launch of two books: Essays on Some Maladies of Angola, edited by Prof. Timothy Walker of UMD, and The Final Book of Giovanni's Villani's New Chronicle, edited by Prof. Matthew Sneider of UMD and Prof. Rala Diakite of Fitchburg State University.

The three presenters will discuss the process of their respective translation projects as well as provide some background on the original authors and the importance of each text.
